FIRST IMPRESSION OF SOUTH CAROLINA RECEIVES $50,000 GRANT FOR SINGLE HOMELESS WOMEN’S TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM

Funds Awarded by the SC Department of Health & Human Services via Senator Karl Allen

GREENVILLE, May 31, 2020 – On May 31, 2020, First Impressions of SC was awarded the second half of a $50,000 grant from the SC Department of Health & Human Services via Senator Karl Allen.

First Impression of SC would like to thank Senator Karl Allen & SCDHHS for believing in our vision to help those in need in our community. Senator Allen saw our passion to help single homeless women transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency with our Transition Place housing program and he helped us get the funding we needed. The first grant from the SC Department of Health & Human Services came in the Fall of 2019 of $25,000. We received another grant of $25,000 in the Spring of 2020 totaling $50,000.

“Single homeless women can transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency with the proper resources, guidance and love,” says Executive Director Sandra Bullock. “We are honored to be a recipient, and the funds will greatly impact our organization’s ability to assist single homeless women in our community.” First Impression of SC provides transitional housing and case management to single homeless women throughout the Upstate.

First Impression SC was formed when we saw a need to assist those in crisis and find adequate resources that are readily available to them in the community. During this time, we met a lot of single homeless women who were working but had no place to live due to evictions, domestic violence, incarcerations, etc. We decided to provide transitional housing for single homeless women to transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency. We now have two shelters and are helping single homeless women in our area. Visit firstimpressionsc.org or call 864-520-1500 for further information.
